Southern Baptists to Appalachia for the past 12 years through the Appalachian Regional Ministry (ARM). He shared a story recently about connecting a church in North Carolina looking for a summer mission trip with a church in New York that lost its building in a fi re. Thanks to that Southern Baptist church and several others mobilized through ARM, a new church building was constructed. Maybe God is calling you into church planting or another area of North Ameri- can missions. Maybe God is challenging you to use a skill or talent you have to help penetrate lostness in North Ameri- ca—like the Southern Baptist who owned a heating and air-conditioning business and recently traveled to St. Louis to help a new church plant put in an AC system. 2. A NAMB mobilizer will contact
you in a timely manner. These are great guys who love the local church and want to see you and your church connected to missions opportunities in North America. They’ll listen to you share about your church’s unique background and experi- ences and fi nd just the right place where you can serve.
3. The NAMB mobilizer will then
connect you with someone in your city of choice. This person will help you narrow your focus to a particular community, new church or other missions opportunity in the city. Through Send North America, local Southern Baptists decide how to best penetrate lostness in their community. By connecting with someone on the ground, you’ll get plugged into their strategy for reaching their city. 4. Finally, once you’ve found a fi t,
you’ll be connected directly to a church planter or a local church-based ministry.
That’s what it’s all about. 5. We’ll be here to help. While the
most important part of the process is done—connecting your church to a new church or church-based ministry—we’re still here to help you along the way. We’ll even provide you with promotional resources to tell your church about your new partnership.
We want to see you connect with
church planters and missions opportuni- ties in North America. A few months back one of our mobilizers connected a church looking for missions opportunities to reach people of other cultural back- grounds. The mobilizer connected the South Carolina church to Baltimore pas- tor Samuel Cho (On Mission, Fall 2011). Cho, senior pastor of Nepal Baptist
Church, was encouraged by the support and the vision of Connection Fellowship to serve beyond their comfort zone as a church plant themselves. Cho plugged Connection in to the amazing work in Baltimore where thousands of Bhutanese refugees resettled in the past fi ve years. Each year Nepal Baptist hosts a medi- cal block party. Connection will be able to meet needs in multi-cultural settings across Baltimore. Their people are excited. Pastor Cho is excited. Oh, and we are too!
