Barry Waldock, managing director of LH Solutions Ltd, explains how the company has evolved recently and what its position is now in the energy conservation fi eld.

ith ever-increasing demands on businesses and organisations to reduce

energy, become greener and contribute to reducing carbon, LH Solutions felt there was a need to provide what we feel are credible products into the marketplace.

It is quite apparent that there are many so- called energy saving devices, especially LEDs and boiler optimisers, that are misleading and do not provide all that they claim. Our vision is to provide customers with sound and accurate advice and to provide credible products to the market.

Trading as contractors for over 25 years and carrying out the development of over 60 domestic properties under our previous trading name, it was felt that a new direction was needed where our multitude of skills and knowledge could be of benefi t to others. With the contracting and development industry in decline we had to re-invent ourselves and re-brand the company to fi t the profi le we now promote.

We have spent over 12 months investigating products and educating ourselves in various key fi elds, mainly LED lighting, boiler house energy reduction and specialist water reducing tools including shower heads and blending valves.

This also included developing trusting relationships with our suppliers and manufacturers. Only when this was all in place and we ourselves felt comfortable that we

sector the DBMU has been adopted by several local authorities and has a major roll-out currently underway with the MoD. We are also presently trialling with Hertfordshire County Council and in talks with representatives of Central Beds.

With regards to LEDs, we work to provide specialist assistance in this fi eld. At present we have bespoke applications on trial at Ipswich Hospital and Dilgenta in Peterborough. We have solutions under consideration for the MoJ main offi ce’s high atrium in London and for the UK Supreme Court’s library plus public areas. Our policy is ‘If you can’t fi nd it on the shelf, let us see if we can get it built for you’.

On multiple retrofi t LEDs, we can be very competitive against imports. The extensive range of British manufactured lighting, LED and T5 available to us with realistic guarantees puts us in a position to help promote good UK manufactured products.

controls, we promote the ESP micro sensor movement switch. These units retrofi t into a multitude of existing fi ttings to give greater control over lighting requirements. Where long hours of lighting are required, such as car parks, stairwells and corridors, ESPs can dramatically reduce energy consumption and improve public perception of a customer’s efforts to cut costs.

The range of T5 fl uorescents we promote, all come with ESP sensors included. Our service includes advice as well as product recommendation. We supply and install the DBMU and ESP sensors as part of a full package. LEDs, ESP T5 fi ttings and Liken products we can both supply only or, if required, provide an installation cost to clients.
