The false fuselage bottom is shown (above left). The windshield (above right) is glued on. The canopy frame is being made (below left). Painters tape helps the windshield hold its shape while the glue cures overnight. Notice the

magnet inside the rear frame and the holes for dummy engine heads. Laddie holds the completed BICh-7A (below right) just before the model’s first flight. The model flies well without any bad habits, despite its unconventional design.

Make three dummy cylinders. Use 1⁄16-

inch balsa sheets for that. Glue into the holes in the cowl. Install the motor, servos and all control pushrods. Install the battery behind the firewall. Check the c.g. If the c.g. is not in the location as shown on the drawing, use lead to balance the model since you can’t use the battery to shift the weight. This is be- cause of limited battery space.

Flying If the model is balanced correctly, it will

Unusual as it is the BICh-7A flies very nicely and will perform sport aerobatics as well. FLYING MODELS

take off quickly and should be steady with no tendency to porpoise. The model is rela- tively fast at full power. The model will do the rolls, loops and fly upside down. The rudder control is very good, in the air or on the ground. The landings are straightfor- ward. The model slows down very nicely for a smooth landing.
