PCMA Education Foundation Dinner Celebrating Professional Achivement to Honor Three Industry Heavyweights in the Nation’s Capital

HREE BRIGHT LIGHTS IN THE MEETINGS AND EVENTS INDUSTRY—SHEILA STAMPFLI, CHIEF business development officer for Courtesy Associates; Liz Erikson, executive director of association sales for Fairmont-Raffles-Swissôtel; and William R. Host Jr., CMP, associate pro- fessor at Chicago’s Roosevelt University—will be honored at the PCMA Education Foun- dation’s 2010 Dinner Celebrating Professional Achievement inWashington, D.C., on May 26.

Office, will be held at the HiltonWashington,where Meeting Professional Honoree Stampfli, Supplier Part- ner Honoree Erikson, and Educator Honoree Host Jr. will receive PCMA’s own “lifetime achievement”award. Stampfli, the evening’s Meeting Professional Hon-


oree, has spent a lifetime in the business, working for Courtesy for more than 40 years, and serving as chair of the PCMA Education Foundation in 2006. “It is a great honor to be recognized,” she said, “as I have spent my career working not only to advance our clients’ events but to enhance the prominence of the convention and events industry as a whole.” Erikson, the Supplier Partner Honoree, has also


enjoyed a four-decade career in the hospitality indus- try, with more than a dozen PCMA leadership posi- tions to her name. And Host, in his position at


Roosevelt University’s Manfred Steinfeld School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, has brought many student planners into the PCMA fold. He is also a hotels expert, having co-written the book Early Chicago Hotels, which traces Windy City lodging from the Great Fire of 1871 through the 1920s. The dinner and accompanying Silent Auction will


also raise money for the PCMA Education Foundation, which funds grants, scholarships, research, and educa- tional programs that support the meetings industry.
