The Face Mask is the part of a Facial Treatment that I love the most; it’s the time when I get to lie still, totally relaxed, switched off from the world.

It seems that the use of Face Masks is nothing new. “Face masks have been around for thousands of years and can dated back to ancient Egyptain times,” explains Caroline Quinlan, Spa Manager at The Spa 5th Floor, Dundrum.

“The famous Chleopatra often used egg whites as a mask to soften and purify her skin but nowadays it’s much more

advanced with the introduction of amazing ingredients and technology ensuring more dramatic results can be achieved.”

Audrey Heffernan, of Hennessy Hair & Beauty Supplies, adds: “It's very important to choose the right face mask for the client’s skin type in order to get optimum results. By doing this you are fullfilling the client’s needs and improving the condition of the skin.”

“Everyone’s skin care regimen can greatly be enhanced by regular use of a treatment masque,” continues Amy Barker of Dermalogica. “Masques have

specific actions which reinforce the daily regimen and each masque has a different action on the skin.

“The actions of a masque are refining, revitalising and nourishing. Depending on the formulation of the masque, they are used to give concentrated benefits to the skin which increase the action of those products that are used daily.

“While masques are not an everyday part of skin care, they are crucial for optimising skin health and offer the perfect retailing opportunity for clients to use at home in between professional skin treatments.”
