RUDY PROJECT HYPERMASK PERFORMANCE ($230; rudyprojectusa.com) PREMISE: Weighing in at a feather-light 28 grams, the Hypermask Performance offers a wide field of view with solid optical clarity and interchangeable lenses. The adjustable nosepiece and rubber temples hold the Hypermask securely in place while allowing enough space for air circulation to prevent fogging, while the ultra-light aerodynamic shape lets you ride for hours. TESTERS SAY: A great sunglass for a variety of sports — cycling, running, boating, skiing, etc. — the light weight and crystal clear vision were a big hit, and the fashionable design will make you want to wear them out whenever possible. Natalie described the appearance as “chic, sporty, and cool,” while Jon had no qualms about proclaiming himself “Most Stylish of Sea Otter 2012” where he put them through the test. The only complaint was that the one-size fits all didn’t quite fit the smallest-domed reviewer. “Although you can adjust the nose piece, I would have preferred the arms to grip a bit tighter at the temples.” Still, a great looking set of shades, and while a bit expensive, testers agreed that you get what you pay for. RATING: 4.75

LEG LUBE SHAVE GEL ($9; leglube.com) PREMISE: Leg Lube’s “ultra-lubricating” formula reduces drag, nicks and razor burn, without leaving limbs screaming for the moisturizer. Avoiding the messy hassle of regular shaving creams and gels, a small bead of the product is enough to mow an entire leg or arm. Plus, the package is shaped like a bottle of chain lube, and that’s just fun. TESTERS SAY: The company recommends using Leg Lube on previously shaved or trimmed areas, a sentiment echoed by our testers. While there was skepticism that a small dollop of gel could be used to cover an entire limb, Leg Lube performed as advertised to the great admiration of our testers. Jon really appreciated being able to see the areas he was shaving without having to deal with a messy shaving cream, and Kaili found the scent, to be “pleasant but not at all overpowering.” The moisturizer was also a big plus, and it “didn’t leave my legs feeling uncomfortably dry and sensitive.” Jon pointed out that the smaller container means that you can actually take it in a carry-on if you are flying to a race and can’t fit another thing in your checked bags. “Plus, it just looks cool.” RATING: 5.0
