(Papaver orientalis)–Zones 3-8–The huge fl owers of Oriental pop- pies are a brilliant sight in May and June. Their strong stems are lined with fern-like foliage. Plants do best in deep, rich, well-drained soil. Choose your planting site carefully as they don’t like to be dis- turbed once they are established.
