Samsung demonstrates its commitment to audio Samsung opens an audio training facility in Brentford
UNVEILING its bespoke audio training facility in Brentford, Samsung wished to demonstrate its commitment to the audio category, which will complement its television range.
The new ‘Sound Room’ is a state-of-the-art audio training facility that has been designed by Sonata Acoustics and accredited by Dolby. Samsung plans to train over 1,000 retail staff at the facility in 2012 to support its expanding market presence in home theatre and audio. Retailers attending training at Samsung’s sound room will experience the audio output from Samsung’s new audio products, including Samsung’s vacuum tube amplifier technology and the glass fibre speakers which
deliver high-definition audio on Samsung’s flagship 7.1 Channel Blu-ray 3D home entertainment system, the HT-E6750W. The training will also cover Samsung’s 3D Sound Plus and Crystal Amp Plus technology. Trainees will also be given practical tips and advice on how to demonstrate the capabilities of Samsung’s
audio products on the shop floor, including advice on listening to and explaining the audio technology to customers. Andy Griffiths, managing

LG Electronics has launched its 2012 range of CE products and domestic appliances to the independent trade in its newly refurbished showroom in Slough.
The company has unveiled its ‘Cinema Screen’ TV design, featuring the latest in Cinema 3D & Smart TV technologies and a
complementary home cinema systems, together with the LG 12kg 6 Motion Direct Drive laundry and the LG Linear Compressor technology that features on the entire American-style refrigeration range.
LG has also communicated its marketing plans, including
its advertising campaigns across both home entertainment and home appliance ranges, and its commitment to retail marketing including retail display, online visibility, PoS and store staff training. The company’s
commitment to developing new technology (by end of 2012, LG is predicted to become the largest 3D manufacturer) is reflected by the fact that one in five of company’s employees work in R&D.
Andy Mackay, LG Commercial Director (CE) commented on the launch: “2012 is without doubt the
brand for TV, we are in a unique position to grow our market in home entertainment, offering consumers a complete experience.” Chris Moseley, AV product manager, Samsung Electronics UK, explained that the current customer expectations of audio quality from different sources are not being met by the market. Only 52% of consumers are satisfied with audio quality received from DVD players and only 25% with
downloaded video files. It is therefore crucial that retailers guide customers towards high quality audio products and they know how to ‘sell sound’, “since good sound gives the perception of better video and audio experience”.
