In addition to manufacturing large, complex structural investment cast- ings and airfoil castings, Precision Castparts makes forged components and fasteners for aerospace applica- tions. The company also produces airfoil castings for the industrial gas turbine market.

Inc., Springfield, Ohio, has com- pleted a $300,000 renovation of its corporate headquarters. Te renova- tion was completed in conjunction with a computer system upgrade and increased space for engineering, train- ing and testing.
Apogee Technology Inc., Nor-
wood, Mass., and Perfil Térmico, Curitiba, Brazil, announced they have entered into an agreement in- volving Apogee’s conduction heated wall product line. Te relationship is intended to allow Perfil Térmico to utilize Apogee’s conduction heated components in the manufacturing of holding furnace and launder com-
ponents distributed by the company in Brazil.
Carbo Ceramics Inc., Houston,
will begin constructing a ceramic manufacturing plant in Millen, Ga., by the end of 2012. According to an announcement by Gary Kolstad, Carbo’s president and chief executive officer, the company expects operations to begin near the end of 2013. Initial staffing for the facility should create 70 new jobs. Te project will bring up to 300 construction jobs to the area during plant assembly.
Rapid casting pattern supplier
In’Tech Industries, Ramsey, Minn., announced that strong growth in both the investment casting and industrial rapid prototyping sectors have driven an expansion of its line of stereolithog- raphy (SLA) systems. Te company now operates 13 SLA systems.
Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corp., Glendale Heights, Ill., has agreed to acquire Cooper Indus- tries, Maynooth, Ireland, a multina- tional electrical equipment supplier that began as a metalcasting facility based in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.

indicated a parting line of 0.79 in. (20.7 mm) would not require grinding. In fact, the parting line would need to be no more than 0.625 in. (15.9 mm) in order to forego grinding.
