EALING STAFF PASS TEST
The largest cohort of staff to take the City and Guilds Awards in Notice Processing in one sitting completed the two-day course and all of the candidates, passed the final examination with flying colours. The 24 team members from the London Borough of Ealing parking team sat the classroom-based course, which was delivered by South Thames College. Rocky Datoo, head of professional development at the BPA, presented them with their certificates of achievement at an awards ceremony. Barry Francis, head of parking services, said: ‘Ealing Borough Council highly values personal development
throughout the organisation and, by completing this qualification, our officers have personified the council’s values and behaviours. The added knowledge this qualification gives is invaluable and will help us expand on the excellent standards of service we already provide our customers. ‘The role of a parking
services officer within the local authority is constantly evolving and changing, and the best approach we can take is to mould and adapt to ensure we are always at the top of our game. I am immensely proud of how our officers embraced the opportunity and attained their qualification.’
TOWN CENTRE DEBATE
The Association of Town Centre Managers (ATCM) is seeking innovative schemes that will help improve town centres for drivers, as it seeks to encourage regeneration in urban areas. It would like to hear from BPA members who know of any such schemes, particularly those initiatives that improve the accessibility for private transport or may

encourage car users to visit town centres.
Examples could include strategies such as innovative price structuring or investment into making parking more convenient. ACTM is putting together a document full of advice and ideas for best practice in town centres. Email ideas to
