This month, IB chats to Eve Taylor OBE, founder of Eve Taylor Aromatherapy Skin Care, about the beauty industry, life outside of work and receiving her OBE.

 I began working in the beauty industry…When I needed to get away from grey shirts and grey trousers. That colour haunted me. I had four sons already and went on to have number five during my beauty career.

 If I wasn't in the beauty industry I would…Perhaps be in politics. I feel very concerned about qualifications and training in the skin care business - who protects the public? So perhaps that would be my choice.

 The best thing about my job is… I love what I do everyday! Having five sons, meeting all the therapists around the world, and training many for nearly 50 years.

 An average day for me is…What is average? In my business no two days are the same. I usually commence brain activity around 5:30am in the morning fall asleep around 9pm if not lecturing. In between it's a roller coaster that never stops, but wow, at 80 years old, do I want it to?

 My ideal weekend would be…A long weekend in Boscastle, Cornwall, where I was evacuated during the war years. It's the place I would run away to, but then they would find me I guess - they all know my secret.

 My favourite book is…Any book with history in - Tudor and Elizabethan history, I love that period. I cannot pass the Tower of London or visit without my hair standing on end and shuddering.

 My favourite film is…Sleepless In Seattle. I have become very sensitive in my late years. I can see it over and over again, but still have tears.

82 Eve Taylor OBE

 The most famous person I have met is…Prince Charles when he presented my OBE award at Buckingham Palace. But the hug from Susan Boyle will live with me forever, a great lady.

 My favourite part of the world is… South Africa, where I feel such hope and love of the country. The mountains are like armchairs to me, not the beach, I'm not a water person.

 I could not live without…At present my Essential Oil Blend No.1; I need it each day to keep my skin in good condition - a blend I formulated in 1968.

 My favourite beauty treatment is… Not often, but a luxury when I can, an aromatherapy treatment for the face and body, but making sure my ears are worked on - that is a treat, out on cloud nine.

When growing up, my role model was…It's difficult this one but books. Anything I could read; I never played with dolls so books would be a role model for me. I'm more concerned who will inherit my books than who will get anything else.

 I would like to be remembered as…Being around still at 80 years old and sharing knowledge and experience with others on their journey. I still read many of the comments about my work and the pleasure it has given me over the years. Thank you for all the laughs on the way. When I go on the long journey then my memories will become the memories of those who I have shared them with.
