arra Trams operates the biggest tram network in the world with 250km of double track, 27 tram routes, in excess of 1700 tram stops and over 500 vehicles. In order to continue to deliver a world class service to its


customers, as well as ensure the smooth operation of driver depots, Yarra Trams is looking to appoint a Business Unit Manager. This represents a fantastic opportunity not only to work within the worlds largest Tram Network but also to live in the worlds “most liveable city” (Source: Global Liveability Survey).


This is a senior position reporting directly to the Director of Operations and Yarra Trams are looking for candidates with proven successful managerial experience in an operational environment within a multi-functional transport organisation. The Business Unit Manager is accountable to provide leadership to a team of operations personnel and to achieve the agreed business objectives by building an effective team committed to continuous improvement in the provision of safe, reliable and punctual tram services which meet customers’ expectations.


The Manager will provide a two way trust-inducing working relationship with direct reports; provide coaching, recognition,


reward and feedback to direct reports; integrate the work of all direct reports and ensure the monitoring of unplanned absences. In addition the Manager will embed a customer service culture in the business unit; ensure the effective and efficient provision of tram services in accordance with the agreed standards and provide effective planning to enable cost-effective services to be delivered.


The Manager will formulate and manage annual budgets and identify opportunities to increase cost effectiveness without compromising service quality; ensure availability and effective use of resources to achieve profitability and business objectives as well as plan, organise and implement strategies to achieve the agreed annual business plan outcomes.


An attractive package is offered with a salary of AUD$120k to AUD$130k, four weeks paid leave, free public transport pass, performance related bonus of up to 10%, along with sponsorship via 457 Visa (where necessary).
