RBF appoints executive director


A new executive director, Daniel Jaszczak, 30, has been appointed by the Railway Benefit Fund (RBF) in a campaign to modernise its image, re-establish itself as the railway industry’s charity for the modern age and strengthen links with current rail companies. Delivery Authority (ODA,) Sir John Armitt, 66, has been elected to The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) presidential team. He will take up a post as succeeding vice president in November, putting him in line to for the ICE presidency in 2015, subject to formal election by council.


Brown to boost transport planning


Amey has appointed Mark Brown, 51, as business development director of its consulting division. He will be responsible for driving further growth in areas such as transport planning and strategic asset management.


Crossrail names new health and safety director


Crossrail has appointed Steve Hails, 45, as its health and safety director, with responsibly for implementing Crossrail’s Target Zero policy, which seeks to realise exemplary standards in safety.

David Bill as its new international development director.


Bill is a civil engineer with companies such as Balfour Beatty, Metrail Construction and the Roughton Group on his CV. He replaces Tim Gray who, after six years at RIA, is moving to a new role in the industry.

Rail Professional salesman loses battle with cancer


Paul Jones, who sold advertising for Rail Professional, died of lung cancer on Easter Saturday.


Jones, 52, had worked for the magazine for six years, but had been on sick leave since 2009 because of his health problems.


Outside of work he was a prominent musician and songwriter, better known in musical circles as Trevor Hogg or Oggy.


He leaves a daughter, Annabelle, and wife Silvia.

You will implement and manage our pricing strategy and provide expertise across the business, primarily to the Commercial and Retail teams. Your focus will include setting ticket price ranges to ensure business objectives are met with regards to yield maximisation, regulatory compliance, industry guidelines and customer/stakeholder satisfaction.


Of graduate calibre or equivalent, you'll be highly numerate, show a real attention to detail and bring experience gained in a similar role and environment. You will also have both a practical and theoretical understanding of ticket pricing, together with strong organisational, people and influencing skills. Good office IT skills and confident communication skills are also essential.
