Mecaplast and Inno-Comp show Hyperform benefits in PP


French automotive compo- nent producer Mecaplast has made significant weight reductions in injection moulded TPO parts by partially replacing talc filler with Milliken’s Hyperform HPR-803i reinforcing agent. Inno-Comp of Hungary has supplied the company with a TPO compound that contains a mix of talc and Hyperform HPR-803i to give a total additive content of around 10% by weight. Mecaplast has used this material to mould prototype B-pillar covers which are normally made using a 20% talc-filled TPO. The prototype parts weigh 524 g, which is 7% less than the commercial parts.
