Paul N. Tauger. With nearly 25 years of experience, Mr. Tauger’s practice focuses on intellectual property counseling and litigation, as well as commercial disputes and litigation matters.


He has conducted both U.S. and international litigation related to a wide variety of technologies, and he has represented clients in a number of different industries, including computer game development and distribution, software development and distribution, toy manufacturing, food products, sporting goods and an extensive range of other goods and services.


Mr. Tauger possesses extensive experience in trademark, copyright, patent, trade dress, trade secret and ancillary business litigation, licensing and negotiation and intellectual property counseling and protection. He has negotiated licenses with such entities as Lucas Arts and Microsoft, and he has represented clients based in Hong Kong, the People’s Republic of China, Taiwan, Japan, Spain, and Italy.


Prior to joining WHGC, Mr. Tauger worked for Dorsey & Whitney IP Group for 7 years and then advanced his career as the Chair of Interactive Entertainment Practice Group and Partner in the Intellectual Property Group and International Practice Group of Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP. He also worked at Bryan Cave LLP before he joined Hero Nutritional Products as a Director and in house General Counsel


Mr. Tauger has received numerous professional distinctions, including being named one of the “Top Bay Area Lawyers” for intellectual property litigation by Bay Area Lawyer Magazine (September/October 2005). He has received a Martindale-Hubbell rating of AV-Preeminent (5.0 of 5) for each of the last 11 years. Paul is a frequent speaker with prominent industry associations including the American Intellectual Property Lawyers Association where he has been a Keynote Speaker; the Game Developers Conference; and the Gamer Technology Conference.

❚ Energy Investments v. SF Hotel Co. (11th Circuit Court of Appeals) Affirmed verdict in favor of client. ❚ Shamrock v. Travelers Insurance (USDC, Arizona) Insurance coverage action regarding advertising injury and trade dress infringement. Obtained summary judgment of coverage.


❚ KKUSA v. World et al. (USDC Central District of California) Trade dress infringement. Settlement in favor of client following successful summary judgment.
