Jeffrey C.P. Wang’s practice focuses on handling the legal concerns of international and domestic corporations, with a special emphasis on international technology corporations. In addition to his


J.D., Mr. Wang has two advanced Masters of Law Degrees from the University of Washington and the Southern Methodist University School of Law.


Mr. Wang began his career with the tax department of the public accounting firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers in San Jose, California. He then became a litigation attorney at several respected, AV-rated litigation law firms in Northern and Southern California. Mr. Wang started this firm in 1994, and has since built a substantial client portfolio in Northern and Southern California, as well as in the Pacific Rim countries.


Mr. Wang has been a frequent commentator in Chinese language newspapers regarding the legal significance of recent events that have impacted trans-Pacific international commerce and the Chinese American business community. Mr. Wang has also been a frequent speaker in events and seminars sponsored by international government agencies, think tanks, and public accounting firms that are designed for international corporations focused on the political, business, legal and intellectual property issues related to doing business in America.


In his legal career, Mr. Wang has engaged in dozens of intellectual property and business litigations that were filed both before federal and state courts in various states of the United States, as well as before the U.S. International Trade Commission and other governmental agencies.


Mr. Wang has successfully represented clients in jury trials and court trials, as well as in arbitration and mediation proceedings. The legal actions include sizable and high publicity business and patent infringement cases. For example, Mr. Wang has successfully defended Linksys Corporation against Northrop Grumman Corporation in a patent infringement litigation with a non-infringement ruling. Also, Mr. Wang successfully defended Linksys Corporation before USITC in a large wireless standard infringement investigation.


Mr. Wang has been a facilitator of foreign investment coming to the United States. He has helped a number of international banks, public technology companies and European media firms establish U.S. operations. Mr. Wang has also served as General Counsel to several U.S.-based corporations.


Mr. Wang’s Notable Cases: ❚ Representing a Taiwan-based publicly-traded DRAM manufacturer in a case pending in the Eastern District of Texas involving a patent on semiconductor packaging technology.


❚ Representing a Torrance, California-based world-leading business machine manufacturer in a complex patent litigation case involving proximity sensor technology and mechanical switching technology in the Northern District of Illinois.


❚ Representing an Oxnard, California-based world-leading manufacturer, distributor and marketer of photographic and optical equipment in the American Arbitration Association involving a license agreement with Flashpoint for patents for user-friendly features for digital cameras. We obtained dismissal of all claims on over half of the accused cameras.


❚ Represented a Los Angeles, California-based major engine and transmission components distributor in trade dress action with Honda, in the Northern District of Mississippi involving small engines used in portable generators. We obtained a favorable settlement after trial on merits.


❚ Representing a Taiwan-based owner of USB-VGA converter technology in a patent infringement action against DisplayLink pending in the Northern District of California.


❚ Representing a San Diego, California-based publicly-traded company and Asia manufacturers in the field of storage router technology in patent litigation case with Crossroads Technology involving fiber channel (FC), small computer system interface (SCSI) digital security and Ethernet technology in the Western District of Texas.


❚ Representing a world-leading wireless telecommunications company, publicly-traded in the U.S., in a complex patent litigation case with Datascape, involved in Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) technology in the Northern District of North Carolina and Northern District of Georgia.


❚ Representing Irvine, California and San Jose, California-based providers of mobile wireless products and networking solutions, in patent litigation involving 802.11b and 802.11g wireless modems in the U.S. International Trade Commission. We successfully persuaded our client’s vendor to indemnify our clients completely for all costs, including licensing fees and defense costs.


❚ Representing a leading digital camera retailer based in Torrance, California in a complex multi-patent litigation involving hypertext markup language (HTML) file creation and internet access, integration of user-interfaces across multiple operating modes and information overlay on digital imaging in the Delaware District Court.


❚ Representing China-based lighting and capacitor manufacturers and Singapore-based public company in litigation in Los Angeles Superior Court in litigation involving alleged breach of exclusive distribution agreement. We obtained dismissal of the case against the Singapore company and obtained judgment on fraud counterclaim at trial.
