A detailed ergonomic analysis of the cockpit was carried out using Ramsis to evaluate the reach and vision of the pilot for 5th, 50th and 95th percentile North American males. The vision cone and reach of the manikin is show in Figure.11 for the 50th percentile. All three ergonomes achieved acceptable levels of reach and vision.
Ramsis is a three-dimensional tool for computer-aided ergonomics and occupant packaging developed by the German car industry.
Its goal was to overcome the
limitations of two-dimensional human templates, as well as to provide methods for predicting driver postures and comfort. The core of RAMSIS is a highly accurate three- dimensional human model that can be made to simulate occupants with a large variety of body dimensions and based on anthropometry databases from around the world.
Extensive research was conducted on driver postures and comfort, which resulted in a probability-based posture prediction model. An assessment of comfort allows designers to optimize packages with respect to driver comfort early in the design process. RAMSIS offers a number of other analysis tools, reach[13].

The cockpit area is shown in Figure.10, it includes three multi-function LCD touch screen displays, a keyboard for the navigator and an ambidextrous joystick for the pilot. The seats have air-suspension vibrations

hovercraft, and have fully adjustable arm and footrests. Seat slides back to allow users to leave cockpit with ease (without being hindered by propeller pitch control bank). When slid back, it double as access to escape hatch on the cockpit roof.
