has
really seen the menswear industry taken to a whole new level. My team and I are lucky enough to get a front row seat to the developments and successes taking place across some of the most dynamic labels in the industry, and I can’t remember a more exciting time for men’s fashion.

we saw at the Autumn/Winter shows, and working out what our customers will be most excited about buying into later in the year. At the same time, we work hard to ensure that what we have on the shop floor is the most exciting and inspiring edit from the current Spring/Summer collections.

this
summer. Selfridges’ Big British Bang is set to celebrate all that is great about Britain, with exclusive pieces hitting stores from major designers and activity across all departments, as well as a host of products for customers preparing for the ultimate in Jubilee and Olympic celebrations. We look forward to revealing these products throughout the Summer months, showcasing Manchester’s celebration of the nation.

he Westwood SS12 show was an
absolute standout for me. A lot of collections heavily
referenced
sports – Prada’s golfing influences, for example – but I adored how Westwood interpreted the them in her typically undisciplined way. The clean colour palette was also really refreshing, and really promising commercially.

ivienne’s comments at London
Fashion Week about the way the UK is currently dressing attracted a lot of attention from the press. I’m not sure
I agree entirely, I actually think that we’re seeing more diversity, bravery and clever dressing, particularly with our male customers. Our Contemporary brands are performing phenomenally well in Manchester – Dsquared2, Junya Watanabe and Maison Martin Margiela are fantastic examples of some of the really directional brands which our customers are embracing more and more.
I n particular I’m thrilled to be able to introduce Westwood,
absolutely one of Britain’s most cherished designers, into our stores in Manchester for the first time. We always see a great response to leading international brands with our male shoppers in Manchester, so I’m expecting a great reaction to the collection! There is a selection of unique, statement accessories for our male shoppers, from iPad and laptop cases to edgy cufflinks and jewellery. The addition of Westwood’s Red Label introduces exceptional contemporary fashion from denim to individual formalwear.
