Feature Interview- Jane Given

Given. Jane

Our managing editor Marianne Kinsella meets Jane Given regarding the much anticipated fashion kicks 2012, and where it all started..

How did you come up with the idea for Fashion Kicks?

Sarah Curran,

fashion boutique my-wardrobe.com has plenty to smile about.

2012 will be the biggest and best yet!

Fashion Kicks confident We’re the

founder and brains behind popular online

In 2003 my husband Shay and I attended Ali Hewson and Adi Roche’s fundraising fashion show in Dublin and it was just amazing to see how a fashion show, featuring Irish personalities and supermodels like Naomi Campbell and Helena Christensen, could raise such a lot of money for charity! Both Shay and I were huge Macmillan supporters so we decided we had to create our own fundraiser which appealed to both men and women, so we created a fashion show featuring both supermodels and superstar footballers! I had modelled while I was at University, so I already had contacts in that industry, and Shay asked his Newcastle teammates to model…and the rest is history!

What made you choose Macmillan Cancer Support as the leading charity?

Shay lost his mum to cancer when he was 5, so to be able to help Macmillan Cancer Support means a huge amount to us. Shay has the honour of being a patron of Macmillan so we really just want to raise as much money as we can for them. Cancer is the toughest fight most of us will ever face, and Macmillan ensures that people don’t have to go through it alone as the Macmillan team is there every step of the way. We also support Beechwood Cancer Care Centre in Stockport and the Chefs Adopt a School project run by the Academy of Culinary Arts.
