Ocean Rowing world record holder Roz Savage teams up with Crewroom for Trans-Atlantic challenge
C
rewroom announced it has teamed up with one of Britain’s most celebrated
sportswomen, the multi-world-record-holding British ocean rower and environmental campaigner Roz Savage.
Savage, who already holds four Guinness World Records for ocean rowing, including first woman to row solo across the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans, is set to brave giant icebergs and 20-foot waves when she sets off from the east coast of Canada next month to row 2,500 miles across the North Atlantic. She aims to arrive in London in time for the opening of the Olympic Games in July. Her historic rowing challenge is being supported by former British rower-turned-business entrepreneur Kate Giles, whose company, Crewroom, is providing Roz with her technical clothing for the expedition.
Roz Savage, 44, will be joined on her epic eight- week row by Andrew Morris, 47, from Nottinghamshire. Together they hope to claim another record by becoming the first mixed pair to row the distance.
Savage said today: “I am delighted that Crewroom are supporting the Olympic Atlantic Row and I will be putting our Crewroom kit through quite possibly the toughest field test ever. We expect to row 12 hours a day, past icebergs
and through 20-foot waves. Flat-stitched seams should avoid chafing, and layering up should keep us warm. We are proud to be wearing British kit, made from environmentally responsible fabrics. Crewroom absolutely reflects our ethos of "Best of British.”
Crewroom’s Founder and CEO Kate Giles said: “We’ll be supplying Roz with a complete layering system to ensure she has the correct kit to deal with the range of elements and climates that she’ll encounter on her journey. This includes our Vapour-X micro-light and mid-weight base layers.” “In addition to technical requirements, we know

he Vienna Air King, international dirt jump competition, kicks off March 31 and this year Teva sponsored athlete Sam Pilgrim is competing for the hat-trick. To show support for Sam, Teva has rebranded its website to feature him and to celebrate is giving customers 20% off the Teva Links shoe
Now in its 7th year, the Vienna Air King now attracts 120,000 visitors and coincides with the ARGUS Bike Festival, which launches the European bike season. Last year’s event saw Sam Pilgrim take first place for the second consecutive year and this year the Teva sponsored athlete will be battling it out against all-comers for the all-important hat-trick.
According to Sam Pilgrim, “I can’t wait
for the action to start. I’m feeling great and really up for it but I know I’m going to be under pressure from the other competitors. They won’t make the hat-trick easy.”
“Sam’s achievements to date are phenomenal and the hat-trick would be the icing on the cake, which is why we are supporting and promoting Sam through the website. Teva is delighted to be associated with such a professional competitor and one who is on top of his game,” says Teva UK Marketing Manager, Luke Schryver.

Roz will need kit that packs down easily and takes up minimal space on the boat. With this in mind, we’ll be supplying proto-types of our new outerwear range to be tested in some of the more extreme environments she’ll encounter. We wish Roz huge amounts of luck and will be following her closely on this amazing challenge.” Savage added in her blog: “Personally, I am so pleased about having Crewroom on board as our kit sponsor. I am so proud of what Kate Giles and Crewroom are achieving with this brand. I just love working with people who are passionate about what they do.”
