Outdoor Trade Show 2012

The second week in September will once again see the outdoor industry converge on Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire

T

he sixth Outdoor Trade Show (2011) broke all previous records and was the largest in its history, with 135 companies exhibiting their latest products and innovations to visitors.

When the Outdoor Trade Show was first launched in 2006, it was a sell out with 42 exhibitors and 621 visitors at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire. Fast forward to last year’s show in 2011, and it’s clear to see that the event has developed to exceed the expectations of all who attend, thanks to the latest products and innovations from over 300 brands within the outdoor industry.

OTS Organiser, Marta Williams said: "OTS has come a long way since the inaugural event in 2006, and the significant increase of attendees over the years demonstrates how essential this autumn trade event for the industry is. A positive, upbeat atmosphere was felt throughout the halls

last year, with exhibitors opening new accounts and orders being written."

Now in its seventh year, the Outdoor Trade Show 2012 will incorporate the Tent Show to give retailers the chance to see all the clothing, footwear and accessory products at the same time with tents pitched on the outside grass area. For the first time in the show’s history, OTS will incorporate a Sunday as an open day for 2012, as it will give independent retailers who cannot visit the show during the week a chance to attend. In addition, OTS will also have extended opening times on Sunday and Monday, staying open until 7pm to allow retailers that visit the show for only a day more time to browse through the stands.

Behind the launch of the Outdoor Trade Show back in 2006 were a group of key manufacturers who supported the project from the start, believing in the idea of an autumn show so much

that they were prepared to underwrite the cost of it. The founder members of OTS were AMG Group, Burton McCall, Gelert, Hi-Gear, Thatchreed and Wynnster.

The idea behind the show, which was agreed from the inset amongst the founders, was to be a straight forward show, cost effective and a place where companies could do business in a relaxed atmosphere with no gimmicks or hidden costs, so the Outdoor Trade Show (OTS) was founded.
