MBICARE HEALTH HAS announced that it has increased production of its new Lustre Pure Light treatment for acne, just weeks after launching the device.
The increase has been prompted by a
substantial number of orders from over 50 of the UKÕs leading skin clinics. The latest shipment of Lustre Pure Light, a CE-marked Class IIA medical device, will be rolled out across key European countries over the coming months. The significant interest in Lustre Pure Light
coincides with new clinical research presented to the American Academy of Dermatologists in San Diego, which highlighted the growing number of people, especially younger woman, who are affected by acne in their 20s and 30s. Although acne affects up to 85% of the

that has been developed and tested by leading dermatologists and health professionals specialising in skin conditions. It allows patients to benefit from a treatment at home that has traditionally only been available in hospital or specialist clinics. Lustre harnesses the safe, blue part of the natural light spectrum and the technology has been clinically proven to eliminate the bacteria that cause spots. Gary Conroy, Sales and Marketing Director for Ambicare, comments: 'The significant uplift
in sales signals market confidence in our breakthrough technology and the benefits that it will bring to patients with acne. Fifty of the UKÕs top skin specialists are now recommending Lustre to their patients and we are experiencing growing interest from international markets. 'This confirms our extensive consumer and
health professional research that patients want treatment close to home that is safe and effective, without the risk of side-effects often associated with medication. Lustre offers convenience, making it easy for patients to have access to clinically-proven blue light therapy at home.'

The growing popularity of cosmetic procedures is the main factor behind a notable increase in surgical procedures and rising revenue from the global wound closure devices market, according to a new report by business intelligence expert GlobalData. The report shows that cosmetic
surgery is playing a greater role in the growing number of surgeries being carried out, catching up to the numbers of people undergoing life-saving procedures for cardiovascular, orthopaedic and laparoscopic issues. This, together with a globally ageing population, increasing numbers of sports

Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) in April 2011, the demand for plastic surgery procedures increased by 9% in 2010, and has grown by 155% since 1997. Approximately 9.5 million
plastic surgery procedures were performed in the US in 2010, of which procedures performed on women accounted for 92%. During 2010, roughly $6.6 billion was spent by Americans on cosmetic surgery, with breast augmentation, lipoplasty, abdominoplasty, eyelid surgery and breast reductions representing the most popular procedures. The craze for surgical
self-improvement shows no signs of abating, leading to mass profits for related medical markets. As a result, GlobalData expects to see more companies rushing to invest in this area to ensure a healthy cut of the profits.
The global wound closure
devices market was valued at $3.3 billion in 2011 and is forecast to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 4.9% to reach $4.6 billion in 2018. The US wound closure devices market was valued at $1.3 billion in 2011 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.2% to reach $1.7 billion in 2018.
