In a modern day football climate where the supply of players can be greater than the demand, it is vital for a footballer to give themselves the best opportunity to try and progress their career and secure employment for the following season(s). PFA Scotland is regularly asked to provide a list of those players who are out of contract by a number of interested clubs and associations from both Scotland and abroad. In recent years the onus has been on clubs to provide this information in order for PFA Scotland to compile an up to date and inclusive list. However there has been a disappointing response from clubs in this
