CAREERS DAY TIMETABLE SENIOR INFORMATION SESSIONS
10.15 am - 11.00 am ‘PE Teaching’ Stuart Forsyth, Strathclyde University The session will be split into two parts. First information on proposed arrangements for part-time study on the BSc Sport & Physical Activity degree at the University of Strathclyde. This will cover entry requirements, course structure and application arrangements. Second information on becoming a teacher through the PGDE route at the University of Strathclyde. This will cover entry requirements, application process, competitive selection procedures and course structure.
11.10 am - 11.55 am ‘Media Training’ Enterprise Screen
For the past 5 years, Enterprise Screen has delivered a range of media training courses for PFA Scotland members - this has given participants the chance to learn new skills, broaden existing experience and ultimately gain a valuable insight into presenting and dealing with the media. Previous graduates include Stewart Lovell, Jack Ross, Stuart McCaffrey and Fraser Wishart. Members have gone on to use these skills not only for enhanced media careers but also to give themselves advantage in other professional activities - confidence in management, working in new industries, creating a professional presentation, after-dinner speaking. This brief session will introduce some of the concepts and programme and offer members the chance to learn new skills.
12.45pm - 1.30pm ‘Routes to Trades’ Competence Matters

12.45pm - 1.30pm ‘Careers within the Financial Sector’ Begley Brown Financial Solutions, Steve Begley
Begley Brown are a firm of independent financial advisers based in the West End of Glasgow, offering clients highly qualified and unbiased financial advice. Working within the financial sector can be a challenging but rewarding career and Steve Begley, a director of the company and former professional rugby player will offer expertise and guidance on how interested players can begin to pursue such a career path. This session will allow players to gather information on working within Steve’s industry and highlight the flexibility within such training that can enable players to begin work on these qualifications while continuing to play.
