THE DARK KNIGHT has risen to the top of the Box Office – and he continues to soar as the best-
selling game in the UK.
WARNER BROS’ Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroeshas claimed its fifth week at No.1, and that’s despite a 10 per cent drop in week-in-week sales.
The halo-effect of a new Batman in cinemas also helped Warner’s other Caped Cruader game – sales for Arkham Citywere up 37 per cent, pushing it back into the top ten at No.7
SEGA is doing well as Olympic fever mounts. Sales of the official London 2012game were up five per cent last week, assuring its No.2 placing. But Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Gamesis doing well too, with sales up 13 per cent week-on-week. Overall, thanks to the Olympics, Sega has the No.1 game on 360, PS3 and Wii, and a PSN placing.
Still benefitting from price cuts, UBISOFT’s Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldiercontinues to climb up the rankings, up 40 per cent to No.3.
There was only one new entry this week, SQUARE ENIX’s Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, which made a respectable debut at No6 in the All Formats and at the top of the 3DS chart. It is the second biggest 3DS launch so far in 2012, behind January’s Resident Evil: Revelations.
Next week’s chart might show an upswing in sales for 3DS titles. The new large-screened 3DS XL lands in stores today (Friday, July 27th). Along with the promise to boost back catalogue software sales, the handheld launches with two new format- exclusive games from NINTENDO: New Art Academy and Freakyforms Deluxe.
