Marketing & Events Assistant


DEPARTMENT: Gem Creative REPORTS TO: PR & Product Marketing Manager SALARY:


DOE LOCATION: Harlow, Essex MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE


As the Marketing & Events Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the PR & Marketing Manager in planning and executing effective marketing campaigns for Gem’s key vendors and products in conjunction with our established marcom vehicles. With the combination of creative flair, strong time management and excellent organizational skills, your innovative product marketing activity will help educate the customer, as well as drive new sales opportunities. You will also hold a role within the events space, supporting all event attendance and organization within the company.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES


• Liaise with the Business Managers daily to keep updated on promotions and initiatives plus any new launches


• Attend Vendor presentations and circulate notes to the creative team


• Liaise with sales and purchasing departments to identify key products to promote via Gem’s marketing vehicles


• Ensure all internal and external product communication is delivered to a high standard and within deadline


• Collate marketing and campaign reports


• Investigation of new marketing opportunities for Gem to promote products in B2B and B2C publications and websites


• Raise Purchase Orders • Attend weekly marketing meetings and provide detailed action points • Update promotional material for the building • Plan and organise internal and external events and trade shows


• Work with the PR & Product Marketing Manager to plan and produce The Future Magazine within set budgets and deadlines


• To produce articles for “The Future” magazine in collaboration with the PR & Marketing Manager • To assist the Online Executive in uploading product information


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE What are the ideal educational qualifications? Graduate or equivalent educated in marketing or related subject What additional experience is desirable?


Copywriting Experience working in a trade marketing department or agency Experience working in the FMCG sector

NINTENDO l SHELLY PEARCE is the new UK marketing and PR director at Nintendo UK. Pearce joined Nintendo in 1998 and has been working as head of European PR, working on all pan-European launches and on going PR communications for the console and software portfolio over the past 11 years. This includes Wii,


Nintendo DS and 3DS, Wii Fitand Brain Training. Pearce said: “This is an exciting time to be joining the UK team with two major hardware launches on the horizon, Nintendo 3DS XL on July 28th and Wii U later this year.


“I started my Nintendo career as part of the UK team and it’s great to return as we start this new chapter in our company’s history.” Before joining Nintendo, Pearce worked at Strategic Alliance International as a PR manager.

BIOWARE l EA has been rocked by two further executive departures. BioWare’s ambitious MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic, has lost its executive producer RICK VOGEL (far left). Vogel is a 20-year industry veteran with


previous experience on MMOs such as Ultima Onlineand Star Wars Galaxies. On top of that, EA Easy Studios’ general manager OSKAR BURMAN (above right)has resigned from his position. “It’s been a helluva fun ride,” he wrote on Twitter. “Easy and Battlefield
