The Electronics Sourcing and Assembly editorial team grew its numbers in February 2012 with the arrival of Harriet Kinsey as online assistant editor. The appointment coincided with the launch of a new integrated website.
Readers won’t need reminding that the electronics industry is awash
with news, making a regularly updated website an important media outlet. As a full-time employee dedicated to online content, Harriet’s goal is to ensure all incoming news is published within 15 minutes of articles arriving. Thus, readers can be assured they will always have something new to read whenever they visit the site.
Electronics purchasing is a truly global business. However, with most
distribution agreements limited to specific geographic regions, the editorial team is keen to ensure news reaches the most relevant audiences. Thus, visitors to the site will discover that the content is categorised into UK and Ireland, European and North American regions, ensuring quick access to the ‘nearest’ news.
Where possible, articles are also classified by technology type, ranging
from semiconductors and displays to connectors and power. This is designed to speed the search process when buyers are tracking down specific component types.
In addition to news and Q&A articles, the site also offers a growing list
of purchasing aids including a Buyers’ Guide, currency converter and magazine archive.
Finally, with readers of Electronics Sourcing also potentially involved
with purchasing production consumables, content from Electronics Assembly can also be read on the site.
