Connector is perfect match for PICMG 3.8

Positronic’s Scorpion connector series has been chosen as the power and systemmanagement connector for the PICMG 3.8 standard. As one of the latest advanced telecommunications computing architecture (ATCA) evolutions, PICMG 3.8 specifies zone three requirements for rear transitionmodules in ATCA systems. The Scorpion’s high-density packaging ofminiature power contactsmakes it ideal for this application.

The new PICMG 3.8 power connector has 16 contacts rated at

three amperes each at amaximumtemperature rise of 30°C, all contacts energized. Contact resistance is sixmilliohmsmaximum. The connector package offers blindmating and is 19.8mmwide, with contact termination types including right angle solder and straight press-fit.

Enhanced SMAs cut tuning time

Richardson RFPD now offers immediate availability and full design support for a series of enhanced performance SMA connectors from Carlisle Interconnect Technologies.

The enhanced performance (EPSMA) series providesmode free

performance to 27GHz. In addition, the connectors are tuned to provide ultra low voltage standing wave radio (VSWR) to 27 GHz. This new product offering consists of field replaceable styles with industry standard flange configurations and pin sizes. The connectors also boast low RF leakage and all interfaces conformtoMIL-STD 348. Applications include defense electronics and test andmeasurement, plusmodular amplifiers, power amplifiers,M/Wswitches, attenuators and VCOs.

These enhanced devices are designed to differ fromstandard SMAs

with a highermaximumfrequency, a thicker outer wall that increases durability and lower VSWR. The lattermeansmore consistent performance, which in turn reduces labor required in tuning the products, resulting in lower overall systemcost.

Common configurations are in stock and available for immediate

delivery. www.richardsonrfpd.com
