Geraldine Fleming, vice president and executive director at Knowles


Geraldine has 20 years’ experience working in the construction industry, including early experience as a quantity surveyor for Balfour Beatty Construction. She has been at Knowles now for 14 years, and was featured in Building


magazine’s ‘40 under 40’ feature in 2010. She is a chartered quantity surveyor as well as being legally


qualifi ed, having completed a law degree and solicitors exams. She has experience of disputes resolution including negotiated settlements, adjudication, arbitration and litigation. Recently, her workload has greatly increased following the changes to the Construction Act, which have massively affected the payment regime for all parties involved in sub-contracts. Geraldine has been involved in resolving matters such as


variations, claims for extensions of time, loss and expense, disruption and liquidated damages. She is an accomplished lecturer and regularly presents courses for the ECA, as well as CIOB, Knowles, and in-house lectures for a variety of clients. Geraldine is the tutor on these ECA business courses: ■ CL1 Contract Law Appreciation; ■ CL8 Contract Awareness and Subcontract Administration / Management; and
