SHOWCASE favourite Forum
Well, it was a very close-run thing, but the Christopher Ward Forum members have selected the C50 Malvern COSC as their watch of the year 2011.
Scoring just 2% more than the C9 Jumping Hour, which was the early favourite, this limited edition of 200 pieces underlines the enduring popularity of a classically-styled, high-specification watch. Introduced only in September last year, the COSC-certified watch with the 25-jewel chronometer grade automatic movement prompted excited responses on the Forum. “Stunningly beautiful”, “it places the company on the map of serious manufacturers” and “its colour actually subtly varies in shades depending on the ambient light. It is most amazing” were just some observations on what is possibly the most stunning, most beautiful and most accurate mechanical watch created by CW so far.
The team at Christopher
Ward has been busier than ever. Here we present a few of its major developments and unveil some of the splendid new watches for Spring 2012
Constance inspires students
For the second year running the AS Media Studies class at Westwood College, Leek, Staffs, has used Christopher Ward as a real-life case study.
We asked the students to come up with ideas for advertisements that might be used to support the introduction of our first-ever women's automatic watch in the autumn. Chris Ward had the task of sifting through a couple of dozen impressive submissions and finally decided upon a joint effort by Chloe Wain, Danielle Preece and Elizabeth Wyley as this year’s winning entry.
Using the CW Modern Classic Constance style as their inspiration, the trio built an ad round an icy winter’s theme, all wrapped up with the slogan “those moments… frozen in time…”
The young marketers will visit CW’s offices and see their idea realised by the in-house graphics team. The Westwood College’s assistant head Dan Owen is a keen CW customer, hence the connection.

Moving onward and upward
Keen followers of the CW brand will be interested to note that the second collaboration with the prodigiously talented young East German born watchmaker, Johannes Jahnke, is entering its final design stage.
Using a brand new calibre, designed from scratch by Johannes, this new watch will be a mono-pusher design, such as the likes of Blancpain and Breguet have made famous. Given the uniqueness and complication of the movement, the watch will be Christopher Ward's most expensive watch to date when it is released (overheard loose talk in Berkshire and Bien suggests that this will be in the spring of 2013) but you can be sure it won't cost anything like the £12,500 to £25,000 the watches of our illustrious competitors command! space...as they say.
