fined by law. The first three parts of the rule unlawfully authorized chiropractors to perform manipulation under anesthe- sia and needle electromyography and to diagnose diseases.
TMLT to acquire Physicians Insurance Company
The Texas Medical Liability Trust (TMLT) agreed in December to purchase Physi- cians Insurance Company (PIC), a Flor- ida-based medical liability insurance company. TMLT also agreed to buy several re-
lated entities, including Managed Insur- ance Services, the National Institute of Quality Assurance, Insurance Software Design, and Insurance Innovations. These companies own and/or control various insurance-related businesses and e-commerce platforms including OnLine- PL and E-Professional Insurance. TMLT expects the PIC acquisition to
become final early this year, pending ap- provals from state insurance regulatory bodies. “PIC has an entrepreneurial spirit, and
we will be proud to bring them into the TMLT family,” said TMLT President and Chief Executive Officer Charles R. Ott Jr. “Our acquisition of PIC will diversify our product base, enable us to expand to new markets, and bring a more tech- nology-based approach to the way we do business.” n
Fewer No-Shows.
Medicaid’s transportation services are free and available to Texas Health Steps patients and most others who use Medicaid medical and dental benefits. The services include rides to the doctor or dentist when a patient has no other means of transportation.
That means fewer missed appointments, fewer no-shows, and healthier patients.
To reach the HHSC medical transportation help desk, call 1-877 MED-TRIP (1-877-633-8747).
