registered nurse. Dr. King, an otolaryn- gologist, is director of the Voice Institute of West Texas. They have three grown children and three grandchildren. As ranch owners, they raise cattle while en- joying wildlife and hunting. When asked why they support TMAF, they shared that they “believe that it is important to show the public that physicians are con- cerned and care about their community. The foundation is the most significant conduit that physicians can utilize to show that concern.” Russell W.H. Kridel, MD, and his

wife, Cheryl, of Houston, recently ad- vanced to the major donor advocate level. Dr. Kridel is president of TMAF. He also serves as a Harris County Medical Society (HCMS) delegate to TMA and recently was elected HCMS president- elect. Dr. Kridel serves on the faculty at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston as a clinical professor and director of facial plastics education. He also is the president and founder of The Face Foundation and was honored as “Houston’s Top Doc” in 2011 by H Texas Magazine. Cheryl Kridel is active with the Harris County Medical Society Alliance and other Houston community groups. Both Dr. and Mrs. Kridel actively support the Alley Theatre in Houston. The couple believes “the programs that TMAF sponsors and funds encourage patients to learn that their actions can improve their health. Patients also get to see that physicians have a passion to keep them healthy and make wise per- sonal decisions to help them do so.” Major donors are recognized in nu-

merous ways including a permanent listing on donor walls featured on the 10th floor of the TMA building in Austin. Cumulative gifts of $10,000 qualify indi- viduals to join the ranks of TMAF major donors, with successive levels to honor continued support. The nearly 100 cur- rent major donors are listed under Giv- ing Societies on the TMAF website at www.tmaf.org. n
