Former Army medic Timothy Stroud knows all too well the cost of war. He survived Iraq, but despite help from the Department of Veterans Affairs, he lost his marriage because of what combat did to him. He now works to help other military veterans like him and their families adjust to civilian life.

Thousands of veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are return- ing home wounded, both physically and psychologically. Many of them desperately need health care that simply is not available.
