Selectaglaze Secondary Glazing Systems S
econdary glazing is not a new concept. Back in the 19th century some properties were constructed with a second double hung sash window designed to reduce heat loss and provide noise insulation. Today’s high performance secondary glazing involves a fully independent window system fitted to the room side of the existing window, which remains unaltered and in its original state.

Conserving Energy: Energy used to heat buildings accounts for 44% of the UK’s total energy usage and older buildings have the poorest insulation. Selectaglaze’s secondary glazing fitted with energy efficient glass will more than halve the heat loss through the window and highly efficient seals will markedly reduce draughts. Peaceful Environments: Noise is unwanted sound and high ambient noise levels can be very disruptive, reduce concentration, raise stress levels and cause sleep deprivation. Selectaglaze’s secondary glazing will reduce noise levels typically by 42-45db but higher levels can be achieved. Secure Surroundings: Even in its most basic form secondary glazing provides a second barrier to entry to the same level as bars and grilles – which are an unsightly intrusion - but Selectaglaze’s unique “Secured by Design” accredited range provides greatly enhanced levels of protection from physical attack and blast.
