MEGAUPLOAD: File-sharing website Megaupload was shut down by the FBI and US Department of Justice due to the amount of piracy it facilitates.


GAMESTOP: The retailer has closed its Northern Ireland operations – three stores – and transferred business to its .co.uk website. GameStop said this is part of its previously announced plan to exit the UK bricks-and- mortar market.


NINTENDO: The first 3DS demos – Resident Evil: Revelations and Cooking Mama 4– have gone live. Demos of Metal Gear Solid 3D and Mario & Sonic 2012 are also due.


SONY: The Vita Rooms tour has moved on to Glasgow. Consumers in the city will be able to try out the new handheld until January 29th.


SQUARE ENIX: The publisher will produce smartphone and tablet versions of award-winning puzzle game KooZac. The title has gathered more than 15m players online.


Nordic signs Alan Wake on PC


Hit Xbox 360 game finally comes to PC ahead of digital-only sequel American Nightmare by James Batchelor


NORDIC GAMES has won a publishing deal for Remedy Entertainment’s critically acclaimed Alan Wake. The company will bring the boxed PC version of the title to UK retail this March, which has been tweaked and redeveloped specifically for the platform.


The PC SKU will include both DLC episodes – The Signal and The Writer– plus a 3D mode and multi- screen support. Alan Wakewas originally published by Microsoft on Xbox 360 in 2010.


A digital version of the PC release will be self-published by Remedy over Steam. “It goes without saying that we are very happy and proud to work together with some of the greatest talents and artists of the


games industry,” said Nordic Games CEO Lars Wingefors. “We are really looking forward to the PC version of Alan Wake, especially as we are talking about a fantastic PC adaptation, rather than a mere porting of the code.
