IT WAS yet another week at the top of the games chart for FIFA 12.
This is the football sim’s fifth consecutive No.1 and its seventh in total since it went on sale in September last year. Not only that, but the EA title has now made more than money than any other sports game in the UK to date.
ACTIVISION FPS Modern Warfare 3overtook its rival Battlefield 3, which switched places with it from No.5 to No.4. This was due to the fact that Modern Warfare 3saw a four per cent dip in week-on-week sales, while EA’s sales of Battlefield 3dropped 25 per cent.
This allowed BETHESDA’s hit fantasy RPG The Elder Scrolls V: Skryimto swing up one place to No.2, despite a four per cent sales fall. It is also No.1 in the 360 charts.
It was a good week for acclaimed platformer Rayman Originswhich jumped from No.17 to No.9. Sales for the UBISOFT game rose 21 per cent. The publisher’s other Top Ten title, Just Dance 3, moved one position down to No.3.
Fitness games continued to perform well, with 505’s Zumba Fitnesssteady at No.6 and Zumba Fitness 2at No.8. Meanwhile, NINTENDO workout title Wii Fit Plusleapt five positions to No.15.
THQ had a strong week. Sandbox action game Saints Row: The Thirdre-entered the Top Ten at No.7, while WWE ‘12 wrestled its way from No.31 to No.18 thanks to retail price promotions.
EA’s Skate 3, THQ’s Warhammer 40,000: Space Marineand Ubisoft’s Abba: You Can Dancere-entered the Top 40, after sales for each rose four per cent, 18 per cent and 41 per cent respectively.
