In August 2009, Sarah Outen became the first woman and youngest person in the world to row solo across the Indian Ocean. In just 124 days, Sarah rowed 4000 miles from Australia to Mauritius, becoming only the 8th woman ever to have rowed solo on the high seas.
Sarah decided to attempt her Indian Ocean adventure despite having absolutely no experience of ocean- rowing and no funds to back her expedition. She began masterminding the entire expedition whilst in her final year at Oxford, drawing a team around her, raising capital, driving the media campaign and even building the boat.
Sarah earned three Guiness World Records and was awarded an MBE in recognition of her Indian Ocean row.

In 2011, Sarah embarked on her second expedition: London2London: Via the World. The most difficult and dangerous expedition ever undertaken by a woman, Sarah is attempting a record-breaking 20,000 mile 2 and a half year adventure around the entire globe, rowing the North Pacific and Atlantic Oceans solo, as well as cycling across three continents.
