Adventurers
BEN THACKWRAY.
“THOROUGHLY ABSORBING FROM START TO FINISH. THE SENSE OF ADVENTURE CAME ACROSS REALLY WELL. TRULY INSPIRATIONAL.”
Neil Cleverly, Senior Manager, Lloyds Banking Group
Ben Thackwray is an adventurer and Everest mountaineer with experience of high-risk expeditions in the most challenging environments on Earth.
From climbing Everest, rowing across the Atlantic to running 150 miles across the Sahara desert and crossing the Greenland icecap, Ben is one of the UK’s leading and most versatile adventurers.
After retiring from his semi-professional football career, Ben decided to work through his “to do” list. His “Adventure Trilogy” - rowing the Atlantic, climbing Mount Everest and skiing to the South Pole - became his

guiding ambition, as it would require him to master three very different disciplines in the most demanding, hostile yet beautiful places on the planet.
Having rowed across the Atlantic in 2007, Ben reached the summit of Everest in May 2011. In 2012 he will set off on his South Pole expedition with fellow adventurer Ian Couch with the aim of traversing the entire 1800 miles across Antarctica.
Ben has a wealth of experience of operating in high-risk situations from his expeditions to almost every extreme environment on Earth.
