he origins of the Silva brand lay in a trio of Swedish orienteers inventing the liquid-filled


compass. Orienteer Gunnar Tillander contacted the brothers Alvar and Björn Kjellström, who were also dedicated orienteers, and together they founded Silva. The year was 1933 and ever since then compasses from Silva have been a popular choice for orienteering and outdoor activities. Although predominantly specialising in the outdoor market, the company has since diversifi ed into the sport and professional industries. Product ranges now include headlamps, compasses, pedometers, binoculars and professional instruments. The growth in multi-sport product areas
