First Words T

he SGB revolution starts here with

what I’m sure you agree is an impressive new design to establish our magazine firmly at the top of the sports trade industry.

This month the sporting goods industry prepares itself for the annual trip to Munich for the ISPO trade show, now in its 42nd year. The SGB team will be there and the show gives us an excellent chance to speak to everyone within the industry and get a taste for new product launches.

If you see us at Munich, feel free to pull us to one side and speak to us about how we can improve our publication to make it more benefi cial to you the reader.

Elsewhere Paul Westlake reviews a selection of the latest products currently on the market. This regular feature will give retailers a better indication of what products you should be investing your hard earned money in and moves trade press away from the traditional ‘sitting on the fence’ view that doesn’t tend to off er retailers much else other than the usual supplier rhetoric.

The team at SGB towers are also excited about the new regular ‘Check Out Finish’ section of our magazine. Each month we will interview a sporting personality and hopefully gain some useful insight into their sport/activity and how our industry can improve by boosting profi ts and attracting new customers.

This month we interview Alex Flynn who is aiming to raise £1 million pounds for Parkinson’s disease by travelling a staggering 10 million metres by a combination of running, cycling and if needs be, crawling! In future months we have a host of personalities lined up including a former England cricketer and a British Olympic medal hopeful, but their identities are currently a closely guarded secret!

Finally, I have recently joined Twitter so please follow me @SGBAlexFordham for the latest sports industry news.

Have a great month.
