Work experience and student support
Student Ambassadors We organise a variety of events, both on and off campus, involving young learners and prospective students in and outside London. Apply to become a Student Ambassador for these events and you will be trained to work as a role model for the University, helping to raise aspirations and awareness of university life for prospective students.
Your duties will include showing people around the campus at our Open Days and Open Evenings, giving short presentations or facilitating workshops and running activities for young learners at on-campus events and in local schools and colleges. You will also improve your skills, such as communication, problem- solving and teamwork as well as making new friends.

Volunteering Volunteering will get you involved in something which aims to benefit others, society or the environment. Volunteering can be your chance to participate in something that really matters to you and the world. It does not necessarily have to be connected to your degree or your chosen career. However, many students choose to volunteer in order to enhance their skills and employability. Volunteering is always unpaid; however in most cases out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed.

Internships
Internships are temporary opportunities for university students to gain training and experience in a chosen professional field. In many professions, an internship is an essential part of getting
on the career ladder. Some internships offer payment, some do not. Almost all organisations will, however, cover your expenses.
Our careers service and your tutors and course leaders will inform you about your best internship opportunities once you are a student at Middlesex.
Work placements
Placements are a standard part of many courses and a possibility on several others, giving you the chance to undertake work directly related to your programme of study for an agreed period of time. They offer you the opportunity to put theory into practice in a real work environment. Work placements are supported across the University by a network of dedicated Placement Officers. They can be paid or unpaid.

Mentoring We offer a range of mentoring schemes for our students, from peer mentoring schemes involving own students to mentoring schemes offering advice and information from a professional often working in a role or sector you are interested in. Mentoring will enable you to develop your professional profile and employability attributes relevant to the world of work in addition to building your confidence and ambition.
