TegoChip Targets ATA Spec 2000 Aviation Record Compliance
Tego announced the TegoChip 2000, a two kilobit RFID chip for tagging aircraft parts that require only birth record storage and identification. Tego’s high memory technology is widely used in the aviation industry to track parts that hold substantial maintenance histories, while TegoChip 2000 is optimized for tracking parts with less record-keeping needs. TegoChip 2000 is the first RFID chip to fully comply with the Air Transport Association’s (ATA) Spec 2000 “low memory” format with extended EPC codes up to 496 bits. Its EPC limit already supports the new Tag Data Standard 1.6 (TDS 1.6) that GS1 EPC Global ratified in September to include new Aerospace and Defense definitions.

NRC Helps OEMs Reduce Airframe and Gear Noise
The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) has commissioned a wind tunnel to help aircraft manufacturers measure the noise levels generated by aircraft landing gear. This facility will help airline manufacturers meet internationally accepted and ever more stringent noise standards. In Ottawa, one of the eight wind tunnels operated by NRC Aerospace has been outfitted with an acoustic liner and precision noise measurement technology. This tunnel can house landing gear and simulate the wind conditions during deployment and on approach, generating wind speeds up to 150 knots. NRC aerodynamics experts take landing gear apart and reassemble
Royal Jordanian Taps AFI KLM E&M for A330 Support
Royal Jordanian has selected AFI KLM E&M to provide component support for its three Airbus A330 passenger jets. The contract includes repairs and access to the spares pool as part of a per-flight- hour contract. AFI KLM E&M has also deployed a Main Base Kit (MBK) for this customer at Amman airport in Jordan. AFI KLM E&M and Royal Jordanian have had a commercial relationship since 2002 under a similar contract for the Jordan airline’s A340s. Main Base Kits offer faster access to spare parts. To deploy the A330 MBK, AFI KLM E&M has built on the system already set up under the A340 support contract to ensure the customer benefits from spare parts supply synergies.

it part by part, measuring the noise generated by wind flowing around each component as well as that caused by components interacting. The idea is to guide manufacturers in the design of specific components to reduce their sound impact.
The body behind the research is the
Green Aviation R&D Network (GARDN), a federally established business- led network of Centres of Excellence. Bombardier Aerospace, Bell Helicopter, Pratt & Whitney Canada and CMC Electronics are among the industry partners collaborating with NRC and nine universities to help manufacturers produce greener aircraft.
