been awarded a Phase II Small Business Technology Transfer contract by the U.S. Army Research Office to develop bimetallic nanoparticle catalysts for fuel cell applications.

The U.S. Army is interested in hydrogen-powered fuel cell technology with high efficiency, low pol- lution, and long lifetime. The project is based on reforming a transportable liquid fuel, such as JP-8 or diesel fuel, into hydrogen for the fuel cell. The cur- rent technology is expensive and easily deactivated by fuel contaminants and the formation of carbon deposits. NanoScale Corporation and Kansas State University have already demonstrated the feasibi- lity of nanoparticles supported on nanocrystalline alumina, for reforming dodecane with high activity and selectivity. During the contract, NanoScale will optimize the catalytic system and scale up the cata- lyst synthesis.

NanoScale Corporation holds a substantial intellec- tual property portfolio which includes its patented NanoActive®

anostart (OTCQX: NASRY) increased its stake in Singapore-based Microlight Sensors to 31%.

This stems from payment of a second tranche from the round of financing concluded back in 2010. The additional funds will go into commercial expansion, in particular buildup of marketing and sales struc- tures in Asia, seed financing for orders and projects, and development of innovative sensor technologies.
