GATEWAY CHURCH WEST
CLEVELAND, OHIO
Pastor Dan Ghramm

WHO THEY ARE Gateway Church West launched in October 2009 in west Cleveland. The church, with an average weekly attendance of 150 people, meets every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at R.G. Jones Elementary School and in homes throughout the week in a network of small groups.

PASTOR BIO Dan Ghramm, a North American Mission Board church-planting missionary, grew up in rural Washington state, went to college in Michigan, and moved to Cleveland to join the staff of a local church in 2003. When he saw a map of Southern Baptist churches in Cleveland and the gaping hole surrounding the area where his family lived, God moved him to plant a church just blocks from his house.

WHO THEY’RE TRYING TO REACH Gateway Church West reaches out to far west Cleveland, a mostly blue-collar community. It’s highly diverse both ethnically and economically. According to Ghramm, the makeup of the church mirrors the diversity of the community. Very few evangelical churches exist in west Cleveland.

WHAT THEY DO Gateway Church West focuses on practical demonstrations of Christ’s love in the community. “We’ve got a motto that says we’re going to ‘care and share.’ We’re going to meet needs, but we’re also going to share the gospel,’” Ghramm said.
