VANCOUVER
THE THING TO DO
Vancouver’s light rail Sky Train provides a raised perspective of the city as you glide inexpensively from downtown through New Westminster, Surrey and Burnaby.

NEED
There’s only a handful of Evangelical churches in downtown. No Canadian National Baptist Convention church has succeeded downtown.

MINISTRY
Church planter Jeff Phillips and his wife, Sarah, moved to Vancouver shortly after the 2010 Winter Olympics. Their church The Crossings is in infancy but growing toward an official launch.

BURNABY
THE THING TO DO
Visit Simon Fraser University atop Burnaby Mountain or take a tour of the town to glimpse the international Flavor of the communities there.

NEED
In the 2001 Census, 68,000 people claimed no religious affiliation, about 10,000 claimed Muslim, 9,000 Buddhist, 6,000 Sikh and 3,000 Hindu.

MINISTRY
The Point Church, with planter Victor Thomas and his wife, Candice, is reaching Simon Fraser University and has stretched to the three SFU campuses across three municipalities—Burnaby, Surrey and Vancouver.

RICHMOND
THE THING TO DO
Drive up No. 5 road dubbed the Highway to Heaven by Canadian Geographic magazine. It features representation from every major world religion including an ornate Buddhist temple and the second largest Mosque in B.C. For a closer look at these sites, schedule a temple tour with the Richmond Museum.

NEED
The high-level of Asian influence brings to Richmond Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and Atheism. While Richmond has several strong evangelical churches including Canadian National Baptist churches, the religious backgrounds of most people makes church planting and evangelism difficult.

MINISTRY
Richmond Chinese Baptist Church and Towers Baptist Church are CNBC churches in Richmond. In Steveston, a fishing town on the Strait of Georgia, a new work is in planning.

SURREY
THE THING TO DO
Visit the Middle Eastern Friendship Center where immigrants come on a regular basis for job training and placement, immigration help and to meet others from their area of the world.

NEED
Because of the high levels of immigrants, Surrey is in great need of help settling people coming into the country. Surrey, and Vancouver as a whole, provides amazing opportunities for reaching first-generation immigrants with the gospel.

MINISTRY
Amin Kaveh is reaching the 50,000 Iranians and other Farsi-speakers in greater Vancouver. Surrey is a central location and is where he has planted Zendeh Church, which means “living” in Farsi.

PITT MEADOWS
THE THING TO DO
Full of opportunities for nature treks, don’t forget to take in the scenery of this idyllic place at the outer edge of urbanity.

NEED
This suburban community of young families is skeptical toward church and organized religion. Through acts of kindness and community involvement, Church on the Rock hopes to change that.

MINISTRY
Church on the Rock, planted by Josh Arrington, is a little less than a year old and is one of only two evangelical churches in the area.
