High vision
Colorado church planting center capitalizes on partnerships

If sheer enthusiasm is any measure, the newly launched Frontline Church Planting Center in Colorado Springs is going to be a dynamic agent in a church-planting network. Thankfully for director Alan Briggs there is ample evidence that God is in the endeavor, too.
“We have not seen a major movement of God on the Front Range and we are praying for that to happen. I see incredible alignment. It appears that God is moving in incredible ways, and we want to be a part of it,” Briggs says with his passion unrestrained. Briggs shares the vision of the man who helped concept the center, Vanguard Church senior pastor Kelly Williams.
“God put it on his heart for Vanguard to help train church planters, and specifically train planters in this area about western culture,” says Briggs, who serves as church planting and apprenticeships pastor for Vanguard. “We have a vision for the Front Range, from Pueblo, Colo., to Cheyenne, Wyo., the mountain metro area, the I-25 corridor. We want to help reach the entire area. We say we are Front Range focused, but not Front Range limited.”
A STRONG START
Vanguard has helped plant churches and train church planters for most of its 14 years. Briggs had 12 apprentices under his charge before Frontline launched in September. Some of those planters connected through a three-month apprenticeship; others are working through a 15-month process, known as Vanguard’s Ministry Apprentice Program.
“We are thrilled with how things are going with Frontline,” says Briggs. “I didn’t know what to expect in terms of momentum and excitement, not only on the part of our church planters, but also from the Vanguard body. It’s amazing. We already have 12 partner churches from the local area. In a short time God has accomplished a lot.”
