Newscast Progressive Foundry Inc., Perry,


Iowa, has installed a new coldbox core machine to increase production in response to new orders. T e family- owned, high production job shop will add the new core machine to its existing coldbox machine, which it installed in 2008 to convert from shell cores. Both machines were provided by LaempeReich Corp., Trussville, Ala. Progressive Foundry produces gray and ductile iron castings on one squeezer line and four automatic molding machines in 100,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space.

Waupaca, Wis., has contracted with Finishing Technology International, Alpharetta, Ga., for a quality inspection vision system for the vertical molding line at its Tell City, Ind., facility. T e patented system, to be provided by Inspectomation, Mannheim, Germany, will be the fi rst of its kind in North America. Start- up was scheduled for the fall.

Foundry Ltd., New Hamburg, Ontario, Canada, has relaunched its website with a redesigned layout and increased amounts of content useful to the metal casting end-user.


GPI Prototype & Manufacturing


Services Inc., Chicago, announced it has completed installing an EOSINT M 280 direct metal sintering machine from EOS, Munich, Germany. GPI added the machine, with aluminum and titanium printing capabilities, to its existing prototyping capability, which includes metalcasting.

it has relocated to a new manufacturing facility in Hanford, Calif. The company said the new 10,000-sq.-ft. facility is more energy efficient than its predecessor and equipped with an improved security system. Thresher expects to add a dedicated metallurgy lab to the facility, as well.


Viridis3D, Lowell, Mass., a supplier of additive manufacturing technology for making sand molds and cores, recently expanded its research facilities and launched a new website. T e company doubled its facilities from 2,000 to 4,000 sq. ft. by opening a new offi ce in Charlestown, Mass.


Grisworld Industries’ Soundcast


Co., Costa Mesa, Calif., and Sivyer Steel Corp., Bettendorf, Iowa, have installed thermal sand reclamation systems provided by Gudgeon T ermfi re International Inc., London, Ontario, Canada. Both systems recover refuse phenolic ester bonded sand from the companies’ nobake systems.


Quality Castings and Aluminum


Products, Franklin, N.H., has been awarded a $36,987 grant for energy efficiency from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, according to local news reports. The nonferrous metalcasting facility specializes in sand casting bronze, aluminum and zinc alloys. 
