Library Data SPONSORED EVENTS SPOTLIGHT: Frankfurt Book Fair Online Information


From 12 to 16 October, Frankfurt in Germany will once again be host to the Frankfurt Book Fair, with more than 7,300 exhibitors from 100 countries and 299,000 visitors expected. The many topics promised include libraries, education, digitisation, production rights and licences, and STM, academic publishing and specialist information. Among the many things planned, the professional and scientific information hot spot is expected to provide a platform to content and service providers in the fields of specialist information, academic resources, and libraries. This will include a presentation on industry trends by Research Information publishing director Tom Wilkie. This year’s guest of honour at the fair will be Iceland.

This year’s Online Information show will take place in London, UK from 29 November to 1 December. The event covers content management, search solutions, social media, ePublishing solutions, content resources and library management. There will be free educational exhibition seminar programme


covering topics such as: STM information, ePublishing solutions, library management and content management. There will also be information masterclasses and career development talks.

editor, Siân Harris, are expected to be available from the beginning of October. In addition to the exhibition and show-floor seminars, the Online Information conference programme will feature five tracks. These will look at issues involved in going mobile, exploiting opportunities with social media; building a framework for the future of the information profession; information management; and search and information discovery. Before the show starts, there will also be two training workshops on Monday 28 November. The topics of these will be Strategy and Best Practices in Intranet
