AIP Publishing has released an app that allows authors and reviewers to use their iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices to access a broad range of information on papers submitted to any of AIP’s journals in


Peer X-Press, AIP’s manuscript submission and review system. Once logged in to the

British Library launches eBook Treasures


The British Library has launched an ‘eBook Treasures’ series that will allow iPad users to download entire ancient manuscripts and explore them in depth and spectacular high-defi nition. Developed with Armadillo

Minesoft launches service to search FDA drug database


Patent information provider Minesoft has launched a new free service for searching the drug database from the FDA. Minesoft Orangebook is said to offer a powerful, user- friendly interface for searching the FDA’s electronic database of approved generic drug products. The resource enables users to search for drugs with a specifi c active ingredient, view the approval history of a drug,


and keep an eye on patent expiry dates. This is powered by a special indexing system for enhanced data retrieval. Minesoft Orangebook can be searched by drug proprietary name, active ingredient, patent number, pharmaceutical applicant name and application number. The database can also be searched by exclusivity expiry. www.minesoft.com


Springer takes on APS book series


Springer has signed a book partnership agreement with the American Physiological Society (APS) to publish titles in three APS book series as well as individual monographs and contributed volumes. The new publications are said to be aimed primarily at researchers. The American Physiological


Society will commission book projects, and Springer will


provide editorial guidance, as well as production, marketing, sales, and distribution services. All titles will be published in print and electronically as part of Springer’s Physiology eBook Collection. Springer will also digitise 32 of APS’s previously- published titles to be included in Springer’s Online Book Archives. www.springer.com
