SHOW TEAM SUPPORTS ‘PINK DRILLS’ - AND PLANS EVENT EXPANSION

Having nominated Breast Cancer Care as its chosen charity until the end of 2012, Makita is launching a new limited edition drill, available from October, to coincide with national Breast Cancer Awareness month. The popular power tool manufacturer has pledged to donate £5 to Breast Cancer Care for every drill sold. The selected product is a pink version of the DF330D Li-ion, 10.8V drill driver - complete with a 1.3Ah Li-ion battery, fast charger, drill bit set and bag. “We are confident that sales of the limited edition drill will help us to reach our goal for the charity,” says Kevin Brannigan, Makita UK’s Marketing Manager. “Our target is to raise a minimum of £50,000 for the charity through sales of the ‘Pink drill’ and events organised by our staff. With almost 50,000 people diagnosed with breast cancer each year, nearly all

of us know someone whose life has been touched in this way.” According to Executive Hire Show Director Robert Aplin, “On hearing about the campaign, we considered it to be a worthy cause and we offered to help promote it to the hire industry. When the press release arrived with the smiling face of old Ground Force has-been Tommy Walsh holding the drill, it was obvious that the

Show leads to Cormidi order

PSM Plant & Tool Hire Centres of Blackfen, Kent, recently took delivery of the first three Yanmar Cormidi C6.60 diesel high-tip tracked dumpers to be delivered in the UK. Director Mike Clegg first saw a prototype at the Executive Hire Show two years ago, with Workshop Manager Kevin Wood. They needed to update their power barrow fleet, and wanted to move to fully hydraulic models, rather than machines using cable and clutch systems. They also wanted diesel powered units that were quiet and able to pass through doorways.

Kevin worked with distributor Ammann Equipment in trialling the prototype machine in field trials and, since buying the new models, PSM reports they have proved particularly popular with railway contractors. Pictured from left are Mike, Kevin and Ammann’s Gary Wingrove.

Show team was much better looking, so we organised our own photo shoot and took his place! “The Show team are all smiling because sales of stands in the Main

Hall are progressing very well and we are confident that we will achieve our target to put up ‘Sold Out’ signs by the end of this month. Having evaluated seven possible alternative venues to the Show’s current home, we

concluded that the Ricoh Arena has become so popular, with exhibitors and hirers alike, as the ‘Home of Hire’ that we should continue to host our Show at this venue. As a result, we have re-booked the Ricoh for next year’s Show dates of Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 February. “At our Show Kick Off Meeting for existing and potentially new exhibitors on 13 September, we will

announce the expansion of the Show into an additional exhibition area of the Ricoh. We already have a detailed floor plan for this new space, so new exhibitors will be able to come along and choose the best stands available.

“This is an exciting development for the Executive Hire Show as we continue to expand the hire industry’s benchmark event.”
